Overview

One of the challenging trek Gokyo Chola Pass and Base Camp trek will take us to the base of Mt. Everest going across the Cho La pass at an altitude of 5,470m. We will get the chance to trek to the peaks of both Kala Pattar (5,545m) and Gokyo Ri (5,357m) and you will also greeted with splendid views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and other peaks. And moreover, you will visit Everest Base Camp which will let you will bestow the spectacular Khumbu Icefall.

Best Seasons

Cho La Pass is snow covered and the trek may not be worthwhile during winter (January and February). Gradually, when the season changes the temperature gets much colder in the evenings in particular at base camp. While climbing the base camp from April to July, you should be well prepared for tackling with any type of weather.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu Airport & Transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative of Peaceful Himalaya Trekking at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, Monkey temple, Basantapur Durbar, Patan Durbar and Back to Hotel

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla.

We will take a 40-minute flight to Lukla from Kathmandu which is one of the most amazing flights in the world since it rewards you with the views of the stunning peaks of the Khumbu region and includes Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam. We will then land on the tiny airfield at Lukla (2,804 m). After that, we walk on the track to Everest Base Camp. Now, we walk north-west and move down to the river at Phakding (2,652 m). Overnight in Phakding.

Day 04: Walk to Namche Bazaar.

Today we will trek to reach Namche Bazaar taking around 5 to 6 hours. We will follow the river prior to climbing the vertical hill to Namche Bazaar. Expectantly, we may get the first views of Everest and Lhotse as we move toward Namche. Namche is the most affluent and largest community in the Khumbu. It is the capital region of the Sherpa inhabitants, a people who very much look like the Tibetans in appearance and culture. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar.

To be accustomed with the environment, we will have a rest day at Namche Bazaar. We can either relax for the whole day or go around Namche Bazaar to explore Sherpa culture and their way of life. Namche is a vivacious town having numerous shops and more than a few lodges and restaurants. Terrific mountain panorama makes a striking back-drop.

Day 06: Namche - Dole

From Namche, we will move gradually alongside and the stunning views with higher peaks and after climbing to Sanasa, we will move Mong La at an elevation of 4010m. It is a stunning walk all the way through the birch and pine trees en-route to Dole. Overnight in Dole.

Day 07: Dole - Machhermo

Walking for around 4 hours all along the alpine meadow and alpine upland, we will also see Cho Oyu lying at an altitude of 8153m views to the North. We have a short walk but then we will reach Machhermo. Overnight at Machhermo.

Day 07: Machhermo - Gokyo  

Today we will walk north to Dudkoshi valley passing through Fanga after departing from Machhermo. After passing cascades from Gokyo lakes go across the first lake, then second lake and then third lake Gokyo with bordered mountains. Overnight at Gokyo.

Day 08: Gokyo

We have a rest day at Gokyo today. Early in the morning, we will trek up to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) for 360 vistas of Everest and Makalu peaks. And we will return back to Gokyo and travel around fifth lake and Nagjumba Glacier. Over night at Gokyo.

Day 09: Gokyo - Dragnag

Today, we will move ahead from Gokyo same trail down and from the third lake, we will walk to east above the Glacier. And after a short walk we will trek to Dragnag. Overnight at Dragnag.

Day 10: Dragnag- Cho La - Dzonglha

This is one of the challenging trek and we will start early in the morning today all along the uphill and go round to east with rocky and vertical climbing to reach pass. After some time we will deep snowy spot and then walk downward to Dzonglha. Overnight in Dzonglha.

Day 11: Dzonglha – Lobuche

We will walk down south-east and go round to east-north. Dhugla will appear on our way to the south right side and excellent views of peaks surrounds. Walking down the Khumbu valley, we will reach Lobuche.

Day 12: Trek 5-6 hrs to Gorak Shep and back to EBC (Everest Base Camp), 5360 m

Today we will trek to Gorak Shep (5130m from Lobuche to get to Everest Base Camp. After reaching at Everest Base Camp, we can capture this breathtaking moments of witnessing awe-inspiring landscape. After that we will return to Gorak Shep. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 13: Ascent to Kala Pattar 5545 m and descent 5hrs to Pheriche, 4200m

On this day, early in the morning we will go up will which take us to our target peak, Kala Pattar, following via the Khumbu Glacier. From Kala Pattar we will observe the sun rise and enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding peaks.  We go down for lunch at Lobuche (4,915m) and continue walking downward to Pheriche. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 14: Trek 6-7 hrs to Namche, 3441m

Gradually, we today we will pass through the settlement of Pangboche, the same track we walked for moving to Everest Base Camp. The trail leads downward to a river. After going across the river, we march for about an hour up all the way through the forest and get to Tengboche and proceed to Namche. Overnight at lodge in Namche Bazaar.

Day 15: Trek 7-8 hrs to Lukla

We on the 19th day of our trek retracing our steps back all the way through Tengboche, Namche Bazaar and Phakding to reach Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.

Day 16: Take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

On this day early in the morning; we take a picturesque flight from Lukla for the returning back to Kathmandu. We will transfer you back to our hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Rest day in Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

Today we have a day rest in Kathmandu. Optionally, you can stay in the hotel and relax. Or, you can also go around the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu that you couldn’t go for on the second day of your trek. Or, you can go around for shopping. Overnight at hotel.

Day 18: Departure for Your Final Destination

You will drive to airport by our representative and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.

To Everest Base Camp at December 2014

After the route of Langtang, we went to Everest with five German friends. We enjoy a lot with the beautiful view of Everest in very close and the society of Sherpas in Namche Bazzar. It was quite expensive, but also we completed our trip without any difficulties and any problems. Our trip was very enjoyable and ended with lot of happiness and great success.
