Overview

Jiri Everest Base Camp trek will take you all the way through the Gokyo regions, Solukhumbu and you will trek via the medieval trans-Himalayan business way founded by the Sherpa people.  On the way, you can explore around numerous villages of different tribal groups including Tamang, Rai, Jirel, Chettri and Brahmin and obviously the Sherpas. And, you will also pass through some of the most breathtaking mountain panorama on earth. The sight of Mt. Everest from Tengboche Monastery is terrific.

Ascending up to the Khumbu Valley there is a tempting close up view of Mt Everest, world’s  highest peak from the crest of Kalla Patthar. Jiri Everest base camp trekking particularly offer wonderful Himalayan views of Mount. Everest ( 8,848m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m), Mount Makalu (8,463m), Mount Cho Oyu (8,201m), Ama Dablam (6,812m) and other more than 23 snow-capped peaks.

Starting with around 6 hour (188km) drive to Jiri (2,100m), on Jiri Everest Base Camp Trekking trekking you will witness the surroundings protected from olden times by its Buddhist residents and at present by the Sagarmatha National Park. These days you can observe the out of the ordinary musk deer, the impeyan pheasant and many more species of wild lives protected by the park.

Best Season

The best season for Jiri Everest Base Camp trekking is post-monsoon. These days are clear and warm with the possibility of snow later. Gradually, when the season changes the temperature gets much colder in the evenings in particular at base camp. While climbing the base camp from April to July, you should be well prepared for tackling with any type of weather. Certainly, the evenings will be cold and trekkers will have to be prepared for rain, snow, sleet, heat and leeches.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu Airport & Transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, Monkey temple, Basantapur Durbar, Patan Durbar square and Back to Hotel

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Drive 7-8 hrs to Jiri by bus 1,905m

We today, drive by bus to Jiri taking around 7-8 hours. The journey presents beautiful views of the eastern Himalayas like Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa and Langtang Lirung.  After reaching the village of Jiri, we will spend overnight before continuing our voyage into the Khumbu valley. Overnight in Jiri.

Day 04: Trek 7-8 hrs to Bhandar 2,200m

The scenery from Jiri is much different than you will notice high in the Khumbu. The path is bordered by deep forests and habitually busy with villagers, trekkers and porters and then we head to Bhandar. Overnight in Bhandar.

Day 05: Trek 7-8 hrs to Sete 2,645m

From Bhandar, the track moves downward to Likhu Khola prior to continuing to Sete. One may spot a wide diversity of wildlife on the way such as gray langurs, a crowd of monkeys in the forests deep in the valley. Overnight in Sete.

Day 06: Trek 7 hrs to Junbeshi 2,675m

One of the enjoyable experiences of Jiri Everest Base Camp trek is walking through the magnolia, rhododendron and birch tree jungles which wrap the Solu-Khumbu region. From the forests then, the track moves up to Lamjura Pass at 3,500m where you Mt Everest appear in front of us for the first time. After that, we move down to the striking Sherpa village of Junbeshi.

Day 07: Trek 6-7 hrs to Taksindu La 2,800m

Today we will walk to Taksindu from Junbeshi which lies is over quite a few ridges and crosses the Junbeshi River and we will move through the village of Phaphlu. As we traverse through the Phurtang at 2,980m, you will capture one more tempting view of Everest, as well Mera peak (6,476m) and Thamserku (6,623m).

Day 08: Trek 6 hrs to Khari-Khola 2,020m

From the settlement of Nuntala today we will trek to Khari Khola at 2020m. The path goes down until it goes across the Dudh Kosi River. After we traverse via a steel suspension bridge, we climb through a number of Sherpa and Rai settlements until we arrive at the Khari-Khola village.  Overnight in Kahri Khole.

Day 09: Trek 5-6 hrs to Puiyan 2,700m

We go on moving up to the Dudh-Koshi valley, all the way through rhododendron forests until we arrive at the village of Puiyan at an elevation of 2700m. Overnight at guest house in Puiyan.

Day 10: Trek 5-6 hrs to Phakding 2,646m

After having our breakfast, we proceed up the Dudh Koshi River, all the way through the large settlement of Lukla where number of trekking begins. We walk north-west and move down to the river at Phakding (2,652 m). Overnight in Phakding.

Day 11: Trek 6-7 hrs to Namche bazaar, 3441m

From Phakding, today we will trek to reach Namche Bazaar taking around 5 to 6 hours. We will follow the river prior to climbing the vertical hill to Namche Bazaar. Expectantly, we may get the first views of Everest and Lhotse as we move toward Namche. Namche is the most affluent and largest community in the Khumbu. It is the capital region of the Sherpa inhabitants, a people who very much look like the Tibetans in appearance and culture. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 12: Acclimatization day- Trekking around Namche Bazaar

To be accustomed with the environment, we will have a rest day at Namche Bazaar. We can either relax for the whole day or go around Namche Bazaar to explore Sherpa culture and their way of life. Namche is a vivacious town having numerous shops and more than a few lodges and restaurants. Terrific mountain panorama makes a striking back-drop.

Day 13: Trek 5-6 hrs to Tengboche, 3860 m

Today we will trek to Tengboche from Namche Bazaar. And after reaching Tengboche, we will visit the local monastery. You will get to view a prayer rite. Overnight stay at guesthouse in Tengboche.

Day 14: Trek 5-6 hrs to Dingboche, 4400 m

On this day, our path moves down all the way through a striking forest, then traverse the Imja River and passes via the village of Pangboche. The way continues through summer meadows where we can see yaks grazing until we arrive at Dingboche at 4400m.. Overnight stay at guesthouse in Dingboche.

Day 15: Trek 5-6 hrs to Lobuche, 4915 m

We keep on walking through the wide vale underneath the striking peaks of Tawache and Chola Tse on the left. We then move right and take a vertical climb to reach at the foot of the Khumbu Glacier and then to Dugla. The path moves crisscross through the rock of the glaciers. At the top of this ascend there are many rock cairns, built as monuments to a lot of Sherpas who have died while mountaineering Mt. Everest. We keep on climbing to reach Lobuche, at 4910 m, from where you will observe the breathtaking Mt. Pumori Peak lying at an elevation of 7220m. Overnight stay at guesthouse in Lobuche.

Day 16: Trek 5-6 hrs to Gorak Shep and back to EBC (Everest Base Camp), 5360 m

Today we will trek to Gorak Shep (5130m) from Lobuche to get to Everest Base Camp. After reaching at Everest Base Camp, we can capture this breathtaking moments of witnessing awe-inspired landscape. After that we will return to Gorak Shep. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 17: Ascent to Kala Pattar 5545 m and descent 5hrs to Pheriche, 4200m

On this day, early in the morning we will go up will which take us to our target peak, Kala Pattar, following via the Khumbu Glacier. From Kala Pattar we will observe the sun rise and enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding peaks.  We go down for lunch at Lobuche (4,915m) and continue walking downward to Pheriche. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 18: Trek 6-7 hrs to Namche, 3441m

Gradually, we today we will pass through the settlement of Pangboche, the same track we walked for moving to Everest Base Camp. The trail leads downward to a river. After going across the river, we march for about an hour up all the way through the forest and get to Tengboche and proceed to Namche. Overnight at lodge in Namche Bazaar.

Day 19: Trek 7-8 hrs  to Lukla

We on the 19th day of our trek retracing our steps back all the way through Tengboche, Namche Bazaar and Phakding to reach Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.

Day 20: Take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

On this day early in the morning; we take a picturesque flight from Lukla for the returning back to Kathmandu. We will transfer you back to our hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 21: Rest day in Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

Today we have a day rest in Kathmandu. Optionally, you can stay in the hotel and relax. Or, you can also go around the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu that you couldn’t go for on the second day of your trek. Or, you can go around for shopping. Overnight at hotel.

Day 22: Departure for Your Final Destination

You will drive to airport by our representative and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.

In Gosaikunda 2014 November...

We took two groups to Gosaikunda at December 2014. We sent two guides with each seven and five groups. It was very successful trip of our company as before. Every travelers of Korea and Norway became lot of happy to visit there. Again they will arrive here in same company to visit ghorepeni poonhill trek. 

To Everest Base Camp at December 2014

After the route of Langtang, we went to Everest with five German friends. We enjoy a lot with the beautiful view of Everest in very close and the society of Sherpas in Namche Bazzar. It was quite expensive, but also we completed our trip without any difficulties and any problems. Our trip was very enjoyable and ended with lot of happiness and great success.
