Overview

Lying in the western part of Nepal and particularly the origin of Tibet, Mustang region is hidden at the back of giant peaks Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Mustang region is one of the restricted areas for the trekkers until 1991; however, with a special permit today through registered trekking agencies you can make your visit there.
The people residing in the Mustang region are identified as Lo and they inhabit at the end of Kaligandaki River. Mustang, a different Himalayan Kingdom has more than a few major Tibetan Buddhist Gombas.  And the region holds deserted scenery, perpendicular rocky trail rising and dropping on the hill and arresting views of Annapurna, Nilgiri, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tilicho peak, Mustang Himal, Tukche peak, and many other huge peaks.
As soon as we arrive at Jomsom, we begin trekking going across few arresting villages, high passes, view the life-style of the settlers; witness the deepest gorge in the world on the way. The eye-catching peaks and repeatedly changing vista, white dipped walls of Lo Manthang is all what fascinates you towards Mustang Region.

Attractions

This Mustang trek opens out one of the restricted the kingdom of vast and infertile valleys, weather-beaten canyons, yak caravan, multi-colored mud brick houses, majestic mountain views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Tukche and Dhaulagiri. Arresting villages, see the life-style of the settlers, high passes, witness the deepest gorge in the world on the way.

Why Different

This Upper Mustang region is culturally, geographically and climatically analogous to Tibet. The capital of Mustang, Lho-manthang walls around.  And unlike in other treks, Mustang trekking route passes all the way through pretty villages like Gheling, Tsarang, Ghami and Lho-manthang and Dhakmar;  cliffs and several passes. 

Best Season

From April to November, the Mustang region has favorable climate so trekking in these months will reward you. And since the region is in the rain shadow area, we can do trekking in during the monsoon season too.

Itinerary

Days 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1300m)

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Days 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa  which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Kathmandu-Pokhara

After breakfast, today you will be drive by bus from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara. Also, you have an option of taking the scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara which lets you to experience flying over the three peaks above 8000m.Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will move to the hotel. After relaxing for some time, you can walk to lakeside. Overnight at Pokhara.

Day 04: Pokhara – Jomsom (2743m) - Kagbeni(3000m)

Today, you will take a picturesque flight to Jomsom taking about 25 minutes. After you get there in Jomsom you will move to Kagbeni following Kaligandaki, the ravine in the world. After trekking for about 3 and ½ hours you will reach Kagbeni where you can observe the old houses, temples and some monasteries too. Overnight in Kagbeni.

Day 05: Kagbeni – Tsehile (3110m)

From Kagbeni, we will today precede toTsehile early in the morning. The track goes at the side of the bank of Kaligandaki. We arrive across the villages, Chunksang and Tangbe. And, ahead of arriving at Tsehile we have to traverse a bridge over Kaligandaki and go up suddenly up to reach the village of Tsehile. Overnight at Tsehile.

Day 06: Tsehile – Shyangmochen (3800m)

We go away Tshehile, we will start on to reach to Shyangmochen today. We come transversely through passes Taklam La (3240m), Yemdo pass (4000m), Baga La, Dzong La (3550m). You will be trekking through arresting communities of Samar, Yemdo and Bhona. Then we reach at Shyangmochen. Overnight in Shyangmochen.

Day 07: Shyangmochen- Tsrang (3570m)

On this day, we will go by four passes Shyangmochen La, Ghemila , Nyi or Nya la, Tsarang la. There is a big settlement in Ghami and cross Ghami we see big chortens and come transversely through the big chorten door before proceeding to Tsarang, largest village in Upper Mustang. Overnight in Tsarang.

Day 08: Tsrang - Lomanthang (3530m)

On this day, we go to Lo-Mangthang, the center of Mustang. The 300 meters long wall which 150 m broad protects the region against robbers and the cruel winds. The small part of Lo-Mangthang is occupied by many inhabitants whose houses are connected by fine cable stone lanes. Overnight in Lomanthang.

Day 09: Explore Lomanthang (3760m)

Today we will go around Lomanthang whole day and visit king’s palace, monasteries, low caste settlements, herbal medical school and more. Overnight in Lomanthang.

Day 10: Lomanthang – Tsrang

We retrace our steps back from the magnificently walled town of Lomanthang. We trek downward from Lomanthang which is trouble-free than climbing upward and reach Tsarang to spend overnight.

Day 11: Tsrang – Shyangmochen

Today you will be move through a big gorge and another valley filled with the juniper trees and then come transversely through the stream. Also, you will get ahead ofthe edge to Shyangmochen, a small community and after that we will go back over from Tsrang to Shyangmochen. Overnight in Syangboche.

Day 12: Syamboche - Chuksang (3050m)

From Syamboche, we will move down and trek for  6 to 7 hours and make way back to the path down to Chuksang and constantly move downstream to arrive at Chuksang. We have a lengthy descent on this day. Overnight at Chuksang.

Day 13: Chuksang – Kagbeni

Heading further from Chuksang, our path move downward the valley turning and then stop at Kagbeni for lunch and overnight in Kagbeni.

Day 14: Kagbeni - Jomsom (2743m)

After having our breakfast, we have a short walk which will take us to Jomsom (2700m). You can enjoy savoring apple brandy, dried apple sweets, apple wine etc. which are well-known items of Jomsom. Overnight in Jomsom.

Day 15: Jomsom – Pokhara

All flights to Pokhara run in morning only since the strong breeze blows in the day making the flights tricky to operate, so we have to get up up early and arrange for flight to Pokhara. Explore Pokhara for the rest of the day. Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara.

Day 16: Pokhara - Kathmandu

We today take flight from Jomsom, you will fly deep into the striking peak range between the gorge of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains. Our representative will wait for you at the Pokhara airport and transfers you to your hotel. Overnight in Lakeside Hotel.

Day 17: Kathmandu

Today is free day on your own in Kathmandu. We need have one extra day as reserve since there is a chance of flight cancel and delay. You can go around for sightseeing to major places in Kathmandu if any remaining. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Departure

Our airport representative will take you to the airport for your way back your country.

In Gosaikunda 2014 November...

We took two groups to Gosaikunda at December 2014. We sent two guides with each seven and five groups. It was very successful trip of our company as before. Every travelers of Korea and Norway became lot of happy to visit there. Again they will arrive here in same company to visit ghorepeni poonhill trek.
