Overview

Chulu West peak climbing (6419 m) is the part of the Manang Himal, which is quite precisely integrated in the bigger Damodar Himal. From the north-to-south direction we can observe the flow of rivers- Hunlung Khola, Phu Khola and Nar Khola. To the south it is shielded by the Marsyangdi River and the Mesokunda La. Located in a small valley and to the north of Manang, away from the major path to the Thorung La, Chulu West (6419m) is the elevated peak amongst the two East Chulu and West Chulu. 
While climbing the Chulu West peak, we will also enjoy wonderful views of Himalayas like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and other massive peaks. And, climbing the Chulu West Peak requires a first-class physical state and a high level of strength. Chulu west peak trekking begins from 5-6 hour drive from Kathmandu and from Besisahar make our way up slowly to Manang valley, situated at a height of 5000m. And, from Manang valley the trail leads north to the Chulu West Base camp.

Why different

Chulu West Peak is different from other peak climbing from the north-to-south direction we can view the flow of rivers- Hunlung Khola, Phu Khola and Nar Khola. Located in a small valley and to the north of Manang, away from the major path to the Thorung La, Chulu West (6419m) is the elevated peak amongst the two East Chulu and West Chulu. 

Best seasons

The best season to go for Chulu West Peak Climbing is October and November though it can be preferred April to June. Spring is also good choice because of warmer temperatures.

Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1300m)

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative of Peaceful Himalaya Trekking at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Besisahar (770m)

Again follow the fine and paved road next to the Marsyangdi River to arrive at Besisahar, district headquarter of Lamjung. You can observe some of gigantic peaks, natural sceneries adjacent to the valley. It is actually known for being the center to provide the daily usable commodities all around villages. Overnight at Besisahar.

Day 04: Trek to Ngadi camp

We leave Besisahar and trek for about six hours to reach at Bahundanda. You can take pleasure from the beautiful sceneries and explore the local Gurung culture. You will take your lunch at Ngadi camp and then again follow the vertically upward track to Bahundanda walking for around 2 hours. The main occupants of this set are Brahmins. Overnight at Ngadi camp.

Day 05: Trek to Jagat

A rising and falling path leads to Chamje, after which we cross a suspension bridge and go up through oak forest. The river vanishes from sight as we climb over a ridge. The track then emerges into a level valley where Tal, the next village is situated at the foot of a grand waterfall (1700m). Crossing the river again the path ascends the contracting valley, descending to cross the river to the village of Dharapani at 1943m. Chamje which is set at an altitude of 1430m can be reached trekking for about six hours from Bahundanda. The track to Chamje is vertical which moves down first and then goes all along flat path until we go across the stream. The trail then ascends again and goes across the hillside high over the river before arriving at the village of Lali Gaun. Further on from this point, we will follow the zigzag mountain path all the way through Syange. En-route, you will catch the glance of stunning waterfall and cross path through cliffs. After that you will descend to a stone village known as Jagat over 1330m from sea level. Overnight at tented camp in Jagat.

Day 06: Trek to Dharapani (1848m)

From here today the track leading to Chamje has small ups and down and we also pass through the forests. We keep on walking on a rising and falling path over the river with an exhilarating cross through the suspension bridge. We go down to a riverbank which takes us to Tal which has hotels and teahouses. Following Tal, the ravine becomes narrower and the way elevates. Before the lane drops once more to the river, we have to walk a bit on a cliff. We move all the way through a suspension bridge once more and climb the little distance to arrive at stone Mani marking the entry to Dharapani.

Day 07: Trek to Chame (2,700m)
With the beautiful vistas of Manaslu and Annapurna II (7939), today we will walk to the forest of Firs. Later, we get there to the capital and headquarter of Manang district, Chame set on the bank of river. Today, we will walk for around 5 hours. Overnight at tented camp in Chame.

Day 08: Trek to Pisang (3,150m)

Leaving Chame, we trek for 5 hours where you will witness the dazzling views of Lamjung Himal and move to Lower Pisang. Close to Brathangs village, an astonishing waterfall can be seen. Plus the east peak of Annapurna II as well as the northeast peak of Pisang can be seen which is arresting. Ultimately, we will be captured by the sight of mani wall next to the bridge and lower Pisang. Overnight at tented camp in Pisang.

Day 09: Trek to Upper Pisang and get Manang (3545m.)

We will today walk for 4 hours and experience the superb path with the fields for yaks, horses and cattles. The track even bestows several incredible views of the peak of Annapurna. After little trek from Pisang village the track deviate and we have one more climb to the Nawal for the supreme view of Annapurna. We stay overnight today at Manang once we reach there.

Day 10: Acclimatization day in Manang and visit old Manang village and monastery

Today we will have a rest day in Manang to be properly acclimatized. One can go around seeing the sights of the town. Gangapurna Lake which is really pleasant can be observed. Here you can also visit Mountaineering school which offers basic mountaineering training approved by Nepal Mountaineering Association. Overnight at Manang again.

Day 11: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp, overnight at tented camp.

From Manang we head off for Yak Kharka (4018m) which takes around 5 hours. We ascend slowly through Tenki Manang and leave off the Marsyangdi Valley. And then walk along the Jarsang River then eventually we will reach at Yak Kharka. And it will take about 4 to 5 hours for us to get there at Chulu West Base Camp. From the base camp of Chulu West is situated at an elevation of 4900m, we can perceive the magnificent view of Annapurna range. Overnight in Chulu West Base Camp at tented camp.

Day 12: Rest at Chulu West Base Camp, overnight at tented camp.

Today we have a day rest at Chulu West Base Camp for becoming properly accustomed with the environment. We will stay overnight in Chulu West Base Camp again at tented camp.

Day 13: Ascent to High Camp, overnight at tented camp.

We today climb to High Camp and reach at the height of just about 5100m. Here, we can reward ourselves with the eye-catching peak view from the top of the high camp. We stay tonight at the tented camp in the High Camp after trekking for about 4 -5 hours.

Day 14: Summit Chulu West (6,419meter) and back to Base Camp, overnight at tented camp.

Taking about 9 -10 hours today we will arrive at our destinations, summit of the Chulu West peak. This is the most significant day of the entire trek.  We have to start on to walk to the summit ascending early in the morning. Here we can lavishly enjoy the magnificent view of the towering Himalayas. We then, reach at the f the summit of Chulu West (6419m). Then, after that we will return back to the Base Camp and stay overnight at the tented camp.

Day 15: Trek to Thorung High Camp, overnight at guesthouse.

We today descend to Leder, we can view magnificent panorama of Annapurna along with other several mountains. We have to walk for about 5- 6 hours downward. We can see the pasture land where the inhabitants here let their yaks graze. Then, we move to Thorung Phedi which is situated at an elevation of 4450m.We will stroll for around 3-4 hours to reach Thorung High Camp. Overnight at guest house.

Day 16: Cross Thorung la pass (5416m.) trek to Muktinath (3800m.)

This is the most significant day of the entire trek and we will start early in the morning since we need to walk for 7-8 hours. We will go up to the top of the Thorung la Pass (5416m) which is the top point of the trek. We will also see the landscape changing vividly from snowy mountains to some desert. Then, the way down takes us to the famous Hindu temple” God of Salvation”, Muktinath and is also sacred place for Buddhists.

Day 17: Muktinath/Jomsom to Pokhara to Kathmandu

We take a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara which takes us all the way downward to the Kali Gandaki Valley with majestic views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. We then fly to Pokhara, where we move on to a further flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 18: Final Departure

You will drive to airport by our representative of Peaceful Himalaya Trekking and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.
